Doodle the Days Away...

Although I haven't been posting everyday, I have been drawing! 

So here's the line up for the past few days:

7/19 STORM

I decided to change it up and do a watercolor sketch.

7/20 SWEET

Lionel(?) had an embarrassingly clumsy day at the sweets shop...

7/21 WILD

When I hear the word wild, I always think of tigers... coincidentally

when you google the word WILD and look at the images... TIGERS!

TRAVEL

I think this might just be the best illustration I've ever done. He's such a charming fellow.

Todays word for Doodle-A-Day was actually : WORDS. A difficult one to figure out but I think y'all get the idea... think kindergarden!

IF Sneak Peek & Doodle-A-Day

So last week was a flop but the night is always darkest before the dawn. And so this week.... IS AWESOME!!!! This week's topic is TRAVEL and I immediately knew what I wanted to do! Usually I wait until I'm finished to show you the Illustration Friday drawing but this week I'm too excited to wait.

I will be adding color before the final image goes up for Illustration Friday, but don't you just love him?! I haven't decided yet but I think his name is either Lionel or Cecil... but it could be something else if anyone has an idea. I hope y'all enjoy him as much as I do, he looks pretty dapper in his driving cap and sweater vest; and always prompt with his trusty watch. =]

On a separate note, I am starting what I would like to call Doodle-a-Day. It is basically an accelerated version of Illustration Friday. Each day I'm going to draw a one word topic from a jar of options and do a sketch based on the topic. These are unlikely to be as developed as Illustration Friday but the goal is mostly to get me drawing everyday. Now... since these are quick little sketches, they may or may not turn out well enough to be posted publicly. But, I will probably post a couple each week so keep your eye out for some new doodles! And kicking it off is the word PAIN.

PROTEST

So here's how it breaks down folks..... This weeks illustration friday was an epic failure...
Sometimes you have an idea for an image and it's really great in your head but when it gets on the paper, something is off. And in this case, I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. So I must admit... I gave up. (but I took the opportunity to play around with some traditional media so at least I got something out of it)
Now... because I'm not too proud to say I failed and since you've just sat through this whole spiel, here's the failed image.

But I couldn't leave y'all with a failure on the fantastic friday. So here's some stuff none of you have seen before; cute bunnies and a fun watercolor landscape:

I think this might be one of my best watercolor drawings ever... just saying.

Welp.... sorry for the disappointment  folks. Hopefully I'll have something really awesome this week, the topic is TRAVEL so it could be super fun. 

Illustration Friday

EQUALITY!

This weeks topic was "Equality", and I must say I was certainly uninspired by the topic to begin with. I don't like to pay attention to the news and politics, so a second topic running with current events just left me frustrated and without an idea. Luckily I have a wonderful Grandmother who is always full of inspiration and she came up with this lovely idea of a boy with his dog. I added some fireworks for a 4th of July flare and WHALLA! Pretty adorable if I do say so myself.
